Buying from the sales can be very risky. It's a 50/50 chance you get the right horse for you but in actual fact we think the ratio is even lower. We have seen for ourselves horses that have been drugged, unknowingly pregnant, lame or just not right for the buyer. That doesn't happen when you give a horse a home through a rescue.
At MERCI, we assess horses that are we have rescued or have been surrendered and are in our care. Horses being homed by people using our Facebook page is a negotiation directly with that person and we don't often sight or assess that horse. That is a negotiation directly with the owner.
When you take one of our horses into your care you have a 45 day trial period to make sure it is the right horse for you and visa versa. If not, your donation will be fully refunded. We also want you to get the right horse for you. The more we get into the right home, the more we can save!
If he is right for you, you have entered into a contract and agree to the terms and conditions of that contract.
In a nutshell you agree to care for the horse and provide a safe environment, you agree NOT to breed or part with, you agree to stay in touch with MERCI and you agree to notify us prior to rehoming the horse.
We always have horses coming through our gates or horses from the public on our Facebook page. Keep an eye out if you're looking and feel free to drop us a line if you're looking for something specific.
